Yash, a little-known Kannada celebrity five years ago, is now a massive pan-Indian sensation, courtesy to the monstrous blockbusters ‘KGF’ and ‘KGF 2’ directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Hombale Films.

Though production on ‘KGF 3’ has already been confirmed for the near future, there has been speculation as to who would helm Yash’s next picture.

Now comes the exciting news that Geetu has been confirmed as the director of ‘Yash 19’ and that filming will commence on December 23rd. Mohandas, who is from Kerala, began her career as a child actor in Malayalam films and then rose to prominence in Tamil, appearing in Fazil’s ‘En Bommukutty Ammavuku’ alongside Sathyaraj and Raghuvaran.

After acting in numerous Malayalam films as a young actress, Geetu featured in the Tamil film ‘Nala Damayanthi,’ directed by Mouli, produced by Kamal Haasan, and costarring R. Madhavan. She also performed the primary role in K. Balachander’s swan song ‘Poi’.

Geetu’s main love was film directing, and after numerous renowned short films, she directed the critically acclaimed ‘Moothon,’ starring Nivin Pauly in a compelling portrayal. She received the Global Filmmaking Award for Story at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. She also received two National Awards for her Hindi film, ‘Liar’s Dice.

Geetu Mohandas, a female filmmaker known for art house films, is directing the major commercial hero Yash, which has caused quite a stir in the Indian cinema business. The official announcement should come soon.
