Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently forecasted the opening day box office revenue for his upcoming action-thriller Spirit, starring Prabhas.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has been enjoying the huge success of Animal. The filmmaker is now working on Spirit, a Telugu pan-India action tale. In a recent interview, Sandeep predicted that the Prabhas-starrer might easily generate ₹150 crore on the first day.
Sandeep discussed dealing with pressure in an interview with Baradwaj Rangan for the Galatta Plus YouTube channel. When asked if he is concerned about the economics, the filmmaker stated, “I believe the producer is safe because of the budget they have set.”
With Prabhas and my combination, as well as satellite and digital rights, we can return our budget straight away. If the teaser, trailer, and songs pre-release are successful and catch the audience’s interest, the opening day might reach ₹150 crore. This is a trade calculation. It should be global or pan-India. A strong film might earn up to ₹150 crore in a single day.
Sandeep also discussed saying no to a previous film with Prabhas. Prior to Animal, the Spirit director said that he was offered the opportunity to helm a Hollywood version starring Prabhas.
The film was intended to be released after Kabir Singh. He rejected the concept, but later contacted Prabhas with the narrative of Spirit. He also stated that the Telugu action thriller will be shot between November and December 2024.
Sandeep made his directorial debut with the Telugu romance-drama Arjun Reddy (2017), starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey.
He later rose to prominence with his Bollywood debut, Kabir Singh (2019), starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. The director is also developing a sequel to his 2023 smash Animal. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Tripti Dimri, and others in key parts.
