Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial action film named ‘Master,’ starring Thalapathy Vijay, was released in theatres worldwide in 2021. The film, which also stars Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi, received positive reviews at the box office. Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, who had a key role in the film, has claimed that he regrets his participation.

However, in a recent interview that went popular on social media, Shantanu discussed the anguish and struggles he had while working on the film. He claimed that he shot the film in 30 days, including all of the action sequences and songs for his character.

Master tells the story of JD, an alcoholic professor who takes a three-month work at a juvenile home. He then earns the pupils’ heart and battles against Bhavani’s. Shanthanu appeared as a student called Bhargav in Master. At first, he was portrayed as an aggressive man, particularly as a rival to another student, Savitha, who is running in the election. Later, he and Savitha become great friends.

He regretted talking to the media about his role and its importance in the film. “With whatever I was told, I shared it with media, my friends, and family. They awaited my performance on the screen. Had I been informed of my scenes being chopped off for whatever reasons, I wouldn’t have spoken about it on public platforms,” added Shanthanu.

Shantanu also revealed that he had been promised 40 minutes of screen time in the film and believed that his involvement would help him gain popularity among younger audiences. However, much to his chagrin, the most of his parts were eliminated from the final cut of the picture, and he only appeared on screen for 12 minutes.

Speaking of Master, director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Thalapathy Vijay have reunited for their forthcoming film LEO aka Thalapathy 67, following Vikram and Varisu, respectively.
